Ripple announces XRP staking and Ethereum integration in 2025
Aaron Slettehaugh, senior vice president of products at Ripple, revealed ambitious plans for 2025. The company announced a series of new features, including the staking of XRP and the creation of a sidechain to connect the token to Ethereum and 50 other XRP-compatible blockchains. EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine).
According to the announcement, the launch of this sidechain will enable developers to connect their projects on the XRP network to other blockchains. This way, they will be able to take advantage of the functionalities and liquidity of multiple ecosystems.
This movement increases the possibilities for developers. After all, it allows the creation of more complex tokens, such as securities with maturity dates, something that can bring more sophistication to the digital asset market.
Another highlight of the announcement was the launch of Ripple USD. It is a stablecoin that will be available on both XRP Ledger and Ethereum, providing a robust solution for the integration between cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies. Ripple USD promises to undergo rigorous audits and will be regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services, ensuring transparency and security for users.
The Ripple executive also mentioned XRP staking as one of the main new developments for 2025. With this initiative, Ripple customers will be able to earn income on their digital assets stored on the platform. This new functionality aligns Ripple with the growing decentralized finance (DeFi) market by allowing users to actively participate in validating transactions and, in return, be rewarded.

Furthermore, Slettehaugh highlighted the importance of Ripple Payments Direct, a service recently launched in Brazil in partnership with the Mercado Bitcoin exchange. This tool, focused on fast and secure payments, will continue to receive investments throughout 2025. The objective is to match its capabilities to traditional payment products, while maintaining a strong commitment to regulatory compliance.
Ripple plans to integrate its new stablecoin with Ripple Payments Direct, offering a complete solution that combines security, practicality and speed. The expansion of this service in Brazil is just the beginning. This is because the company aims to expand its global presence and facilitate quick transactions in different currencies.
Security was also at the center of discussions, with Ripple reinforcing the importance of secure storage solutions for digital assets. Following the acquisition of the company MediCo, which specializes in security solutions, Ripple plans to expand these capabilities, creating a secure environment for storing cryptocurrencies.
