Non-fungible token (NFT) usage on messaging platform Telegram increased significantly in the third quarter of 2024, according to a report from industry data provider Web3 Helika. The report, titled “Q3 '24 Telegram Games Report”, showed a 400% growth in activities related to NFTs on the platform during the period.

According to Helika, the number of unique wallets transferring NFTs daily on Telegram went from less than 200,000 in July to more than 1 million in September. The report highlights that users of the platform, especially those who play within the Telegram ecosystem, are increasingly involved with NFTs, not only creating wallets, but also buying, sending and using these tokens in their games.

Growth driven by games on Telegram

Helika highlighted the highly active behavior of Telegram players in using NFTs. The company highlighted that, in addition to creating wallets, users are actively participating in the Web3 ecosystem within the platform, which reflects a dynamic level of interaction. Furthermore, nine games available on Telegram had a total of three million active wallets in September.

The report also identified an increase in the average gaming time of Telegram users. In August, gaming sessions lasted an average of 2.8 minutes. Meanwhile, in early October, that number rose to 6.7 minutes. Helika attributed this increase to the offering of more immersive experiences within games on the platform.

'Hamster Kombat' and the integration of NFT

One of the most popular games on Telegram is Hamster Kombat, which went viral after its launch and currently has more than 300 million users. On September 25, the game's developers announced plans to integrate NFTs as in-game assets.

Additionally, the company intends to launch new games in its ecosystem and introduce NFTs in the second season of Hamster Kombat, scheduled for November 2024.

On October 17, the game released a trailer for its second season, giving a preview of a new narrative line, in which players will take on the role of CEOs of their own companies within the game.
