NFT marketplace Magic Eden, in partnership with game developer Ubisoft and the Arbitrum foundation, announced the launch of a new collection of NFTs focused on the gaming universe on the Arbitrum blockchain.

The initiative marks an important step for Magic Eden, which now integrates Arbitrum as its newest supported blockchain, expanding its options in the world of Web3 gaming.

The collection of 10,000 NFTs is based on the anime “Captain Laserhawk: The GAME”, which is available on Netflix. This collaboration promises to offer players an immersive experience, where owning an NFT brings not only in-game advantages, but also the opportunity to directly influence the evolution of the game's ecosystem.

According to the official statement, whoever purchases these NFTs will have access to rewards, generation of exclusive content and even decision-making power over governance within the gaming platform.

Didier Genevois, Web3 Executive Producer at Ubisoft, highlighted the importance of integrating Web3 technologies to transform player engagement.

“Through integration with Web3, we are empowering our community to not just play, but also shape the future of gaming. It's about creating a collaborative ecosystem where players' decisions and creations directly impact the evolution of the game. This makes the experience truly unique for each player,” said Genevois.

With this launch, Arbitrum consolidates itself as the newest blockchain supported by Magic Eden. Arbitrum, recognized as Ethereum's largest layer-two solution, continues to expand its influence in the world of cryptocurrencies and gaming.

This integration represents a significant step for Magic Eden as it seeks to support a variety of blockchains beyond Ethereum, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and development of the Web3 ecosystem.

The partnership between Magic Eden, Ubisoft and Arbitrum offers a new layer of interactivity and governance for players. At the same time, it strengthens the market for gaming-oriented NFTs.

Even in a scenario where the trading volume of NFTs outside the Ethereum network has shown a slowdown, with just US$494,000 in trading volume between September 22nd and 29th, the launch of this collection is expected to revitalize player interest and collectors.

Web3 Gaming NFT Marketplace

In early 2024, the Web3 gaming NFT market was moving millions of dollars in weekly volumes. However, the recent slowdown does not seem to intimidate large companies that continue to bet on the potential of this segment.

The collaboration between Ubisoft, a giant in the gaming industry, and Magic Eden, one of the largest NFT platforms, reinforces the importance of Web3 for the future of gaming.

The use of NFTs in games allows for a more personalized experience, with players having greater control over their purchases and creations within the game.

With Arbitrum providing a fast and scalable infrastructure, the launch of this collection of NFTs could mark the beginning of a new era for blockchain-based gaming. After all, in this initiative, players will increasingly have an active voice in the development and governance of the games they play.
