Federal Government announces public calls for blockchain
The Federal Government announced new developments in blockchain through the Ilíada Project. The initiative is from the National Education and Research Network (RNP) and the Telecommunications Research and Development Center (CPqD).
According to a statement released by the project organizers, Ilíada has two new open public calls aimed at the development of blockchain-based applications. The first call had been opened in June.
The two calls seek to develop functional prototypes of applications based on blockchain technology aimed at various sectors of the economy. This includes, for example, agriculture, public administration, health, education, transport, among others. Each approved project will last nine months.

The second public call focuses on research groups made up of students and researchers. Each group will be able to receive up to R$99,000.00, distributed in nine quotas of R$11,000.00, to pay scholarship holders through the RNP Innovation Incentive Scholarship Program.
Interested parties must submit proposals by November 24th. To clarify doubts, on November 22nd, at 2pm, RNP will hold a web conference on the topic.
The third public call targets startups interested in evolving existing solutions through the adoption of distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and blockchain.
The selected startups will enter into a contract with RNP and receive R$100,000.00 to fund the development of the project. Registration is open until December 1st, with a web conference scheduled to answer questions on November 29th, at 2pm.
The Ilíada Project (Integrating Ledgers, Infrastructure and Decentralized Applications) encompasses research and technological development on blockchain-based computing platforms.
The initiative will implement a multiplatform experimentation environment (testbed), in addition to developing blockchain-based applications. Furthermore, it will create the National Blockchain Observatory. The project is supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), with resources from Law No. 8,248, of October 23, 1991
