CVM and ABcripto launch tool against cryptocurrency fraud
The Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) and the Brazilian Cryptoeconomics Association (ABcripto) joined forces and announced today the launch of the “ContraGolpe” tool, aimed at protecting and educating investors in the growing cryptoactive market.
This unprecedented initiative arises as a response to the need to create mechanisms that help identify possible fraud in investment offers. The topic is increasingly relevant in the context of cryptoeconomics.
ContraGolpe works as an analysis tool. Using a series of simple questions, the system assesses the risk of fraud in investment proposals and issues an educational report for the investor. ABcripto CEO, Bernardo Srur, highlighted the importance of the new system for the general public.
“ContraGolpe provides a valuable starting point for each user to further investigate and seek guidance from certified professionals. It is an alert tool, not a guarantee of safety, but fundamental support for more conscious decisions”, he said.
CVM and ABcripto launch ContraGolpe solution
According to a statement sent to CriptoFácil, this tool is part of a larger effort by ABcripto and CVM to protect investors in an environment marked by the advancement of financial technologies, such as blockchain and decentralized finance (DeFi).
In recent years, the cryptoactive market has grown exponentially in Brazil. As a result, the number of scams and fraud involving crypto assets has also increased. The launch of ContraGolpe reflects the commitment of these institutions to educate and raise public awareness, offering an accessible resource that helps identify risks.
Nathalie Vidual, Superintendent of Investor Guidance and Sustainable Finance at CVM, emphasized the importance of financial education:
“The launch of the ContraGolpe tool reinforces the CVM’s commitment to promoting financial education and monitoring innovation in the capital market. Faced with a constantly evolving technological landscape, it is essential to offer mechanisms that enable investors to recognize potential fraud and make safer decisions.”
CVM and ABcripto launched ContraGolpe during World Investor Week 2024 (World Investor Week – WIW). The global event promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) seeks to strengthen financial education in more than 100 countries.
This initiative, coordinated by the CVM in Brazil, reinforces the relevance of adapting to new technologies and ensuring that investors of all profiles are better prepared for market challenges.
The collaboration between ABcripto and CVM goes beyond the launch of the tool. After all, the institutions also work together to develop educational campaigns about emerging technologies, such as cryptoeconomics, and to study regulatory innovations that can make the investment environment safer and more transparent.
