Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has confirmed the launch of its newest play-to-earn (P2E) game, called “Moonbix.” The game will be available on the Telegram Mini App, Binance announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on September 17.

“Moonbix” is a cryptocurrency-themed game that allows players to explore galaxies, collect items, and earn points. According to videos released by Binance, users control a spaceship equipped with a claw-like tool that collects items such as yellow gems and gifts scattered throughout the galaxy.

These items have in-game value, helping players climb the rankings, with top performers being rewarded with cryptocurrency.

Game release 'leaked'

However, Binance has revealed that the game’s launch leaked ahead of schedule while the team was still working on tweaks to ensure the best possible experience for users. The company apologized for the incident and stated that it is reviewing the cases of users affected by this premature leak.

Binance has also warned players about potential fake accounts that are trying to impersonate official representatives of the game. In this regard, the exchange has advised its users to only follow Binance’s official channels for reliable updates and information.

“While we are thrilled with the community response, we are still fine-tuning the product to ensure the best user experience for the official launch,” the exchange said in a tweet. “We appreciate your patience, and the official launch will be announced soon!”

Binance rides on the success of Mini Apps on Telegram

The launch of “Moonbix” comes as part of Telegram’s Mini Apps ecosystem, a web-based app platform that runs directly on the messenger. Introduced in 2023, Mini Apps have become extremely popular, attracting 500 million of Telegram’s 950 million global users each month.

Apps like “Notcoin” and “Hamster Kombat” are examples of success within this format. The game “Hamster Kombat”, for example, has attracted more than 300 million players since its launch in March 2024.

This growing trend of Mini Apps on Telegram has also driven the adoption of cryptocurrencies, especially with Telegram's integration with The Open Network (TON), one of the most promising blockchains of the year.
